송나라 시대에 제작된 철제동상 Wuzhiqi는 중국에서 전해 내려오는 신화에 등장하는 물 도깨비이다.  발에 사슬이 묶인 채 거북산 아래 사는, 오래된 이야기를 가진 이 도깨비 상은 여러 경로를 거쳐 현재 독일 훔볼트 박물관에 보관되어 있다. 박물관의 수장고에 숨어있는 Wuzhiqi는 3D 스캐닝 데이터로 전달되었고 흡사 한반도의 도깨비와 같고 고로 우리에게 익숙하였다. 데이터로 확인 할 수 있는 시각적 유사성으로 인해 그것이 어디로부터 왔는지, 어디에 있는지는 무의미해졌다. <거북산에서 튀어 나온 도깨비>는 웜홀을 통과해 온 여행자처럼 작가의 상상력과 결합되어 새로운 물질로 변환되고 재조합된다.

Wuzhiqi, an iron statue made in the Song Dynasty, is a water goblin that appears in Chinese mythology. This goblin statue with an old story, chained to its feet and living under Mt. Turtle, has gone through several routes and is now housed in the Humboldt Museum in Germany. Wuzhiqi, hidden in the museum’s storage, was delivered as 3D scanning data and was almost like a Korean Peninsula goblin and familiar to Korean. The visual similarity of the statue’s data made it meaningless where it came from or where it was. The Goblin from Turtle Mountain is combined with the artist’s imagination and converted into a new material and recombined like a traveler who has passed through a wormhole.
