2023 서귀포 기후예술 프로젝트, 2023 Seogwipo Climate Art Project

물(水)과 불(火)의 경계에 놓인 땅의 기록을 담은 본 프로젝트는 인간에 의해 구획되고 다루어지는 공간이 아닌 모두의 서식지 자연에 대한 경험을 시각적으로 표현한다. 작가 양숙현은 제주도 서귀포시에 짧게 머무르며 성산의 동굴 진지, 위미리의 귤나무 밭과 노지, 그리고 대포 해안가에서 발견한 물질들을 데이터화하고 인적이 뜸한 이 곳 대포마을 초소에 풀어 놓는다. 거대 기술이 물질과 맥락을 읽어내는 외재화 된 감각의 시대에 우리의 신체로부터 소실되는 물질 감각을 이야기하기 위해 다시, 서식지를 바라보는 다채로운 차원을 정보로 남긴다.  

This project, which contains records of land on the border between water and fire, visually expresses everyone’s experience of habitat nature, not a space that is demarcated and treated by humans. Sookyun Yang stays briefly in Seogwipo, Jeju Island, and converts materials found in Seongsan’s artificial cave, tangerine fields in Wimiri, and Daepo coastal areas into data and releases them in this deserted Daepo guard post. In order to talk about physical senses lost from our bodies in an era of externalized senses in which giant technology reads materials and contexts, it leaves information on the colorful dimension of looking at habitat.
