제 1회 통영트리엔날레 특별전 수작수작에서 양숙현은 통영의 전통연을 모티브로 한 오디오 비주얼 작업 <The Signal: night shift day>를 프로젝션 매핑으로 보여준다. 임진왜란에 실제로 사용된 사람 크기 방패연에 표현된 흑/적/백색의 강렬함과 종이 위에 붓으로 새겨진 조형성과 메시지를 전달하는 오래된 매체의 존재에 매료되어 작가적 관점으로 재해석한 오디오 리액티브 영상을 전시한다.

<The signal: night shift day> Tongyeong’s traditional kite is not only playthings, but also serves to convey information through visualized abstract symbols. Inspired by the shield kite used in the 16th century war, which delivered major messages that span night and day with human scale and visual intensity, the artist pours out the message that abstracted signals on a huge projection wall.
